Carried over from the prior blog discussion: if you're trading Girgensons plus, do it for a D and skip wasting more assets on Drouin when there's an excellent chance you're getting a better version of him in the 2016 draft. A version that may not score as much but will fit the overall profile of the team much better.

Better still, do nothing major, aside from trading UFA's until the season is over and we know where the team will be drafting.

Depending on how he performs up to the trading deadline: hopefully a 1st round pick, but reality is more like a 2nd and some kind of prospect.

For me, I would just like to resign him. This team really needs to build some chemistry and i know we can get a nice pick for him but is it worth losing his mojo?

I've liked his game since his time with the Avs. He could be a really good fit with Toews and Hossa and the grinding cycle game they like to play at that price.

would he be worth a first rounder to the hawks?

This team needs an elite potential scoring winger, bad. If you can get Drouin, you explore those possibilities.

Girgensons while good, does not have the offensive upside that Drouin has.

Why not add Drouin and that additional top flight winger in this draft. that way you have two.

Your top 6 wingers would be
Kane
Drouin
Reinhart/Eichel Can be switched depending on game performance
Draft pick

Instead of
Kane
Reinhart/Eichel
Draft pick
Moulson/Gionta

He's worth a 2nd. Tops. Maybe a 3rd. Me personally, I like McGinn. Love his game. Resign him? Or too many propsects in the system?

I was going to say if we got a 1st for Gaustad, then a 1st for McGinn shouldn't be a problem. I would like to resign him though.

am thinking a 2nd...with the intent to sign him in the off season...plays hard, can score and has grit...

that said, if he's a piece that someone feels they need to get to the promised land, a low-first rounder is not out of the question

I read a post wrong. He was more or less hoping for a 1st. Expecting a 2nd. My response was not necessary. My bad.

As for a 1st for Gaustad...... that was awesome. That'll never happen again
Nashville seemed desperate that year to make something happen.

Last time we did that we wound up with the Moulson contract. Time to pass on McGinn, don't need our bottom 6 players making that kind of money (i expect he'll get a raise in FA)

No one knows, everyone acts like he is already proven. He isn't, AT ALL. Stats are horrible on a very offensive team with talent. I don't understand why everyone is willing to sell the farm to get him. I keep girgs over trading him for Drouin. Ennis+ i take a shot because isn't part of this team going forward anyway.
